Be careful, for you can get really addicted to this! No, you wouldn’t understand it if you’ve never done it yourself. But those who have – they join a certain community of people from different countries and different cultural and religious backgrounds who share the same unforgettable experience. And it is magical!
Just go to Praza do Obradoiro – the square in front of the Cathedral of Santiago – and you will get immersed in pure joy that all the pilgrims are oozing. When you see them, limping towards the cathedral, with their heavy backpacks, with blisters on their feet and sports tape on their knees, but with happy smiles on their faces, it’s very hard not to get emotional.
We all walk the Camino for various reasons: they can be religious or spiritual, but it can as well be health, tourism or meeting new people. Anyway, whatever your original reason was, when you come to the end, you realise that you have got a lot more than you expected.
We all walk our way, also in our everyday life, full of its trials and challenges, and on this way, hopefully, we are becoming better people.
